Holiday Stress-Buster Tips

The holiday season can bring joy, but it can also come with added stress. Today, we’re sharing some quick and effective stress-busting tips to help you stay centered and calm— to help with emotional eating avoidance and that overall (dreaded) feeling of overwhelm.

Holiday Stress-Busters:

  1. Take a Breather – Deep breathing exercises or a quick five-minute meditation can help reduce stress and refocus your mind.
  2. Stick to Your Routine – Try to maintain your regular sleep, eating, and exercise habits. Consistency can help reduce stress and keep you grounded.
  3. Make Time for Self-Care – Give yourself permission to take breaks, even if it’s just 10 minutes with a good book or a short walk outside.
  4. Set Realistic Expectations – Don’t aim for perfection. Embrace a “good enough” approach, and let go of the need for everything to be perfect.
  5. Practice Gratitude – Take a moment each day to jot down three things you’re grateful for. Focusing on the positives can shift your mindset and help relieve stress.
  6. Limit Sugar and Caffeine – Both can lead to energy crashes and increase stress levels. Opt for balanced snacks with protein and fiber to keep your energy steady.
  7. Stay Hydrated – Drinking enough water can help you feel more energized and clear-headed. Aim for 64oz of water daily.
  8. Say “No” When Needed – It’s okay to protect your time and energy. Set healthy boundaries and prioritize activities that bring you joy.
  9. Plan Simple, Healthy Meals – Planning ahead can reduce stress around food choices and keep you feeling nourished without the holiday overindulgence.
  10. Get Moving – Even a short walk or gentle stretching can boost endorphins and relieve tension. Movement is a great way to manage holiday stress naturally.

These small practices can help you stay calm, present, and in control, making it easier to enjoy the season without feeling overwhelmed.
