About Dr. Kumbla:
Dr. Pallavi Archana Kumbla was raised in Birmingham, Alabama. After completing her undergraduate studies in Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Alabama in 2009 where she graduated summa cum laude, she attended the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama where she completed four years of medical graduate studies. During her medical school education, she achieved several accolades including being inducted into the prestigious Gold Humanism Honor Society for her compassion in patient care.
Dr. Kumbla completed her five year general surgery training at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas from 2013 to 2018. During this time, she gained significant experience in all aspects of patient care and foundational surgical techniques. It was also during this time that she worked closely with renowned breast surgical oncologists and plastic and reconstructive surgeons in the treatment of breast cancer and complex reconstructive trauma patients. During her general surgical years, she was inducted into the exclusive Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and authored numerous publications in several plastic and reconstructive surgery journals. She culminated her general surgery training by becoming board certified in this specialty.
Following her five years of general surgery, Dr. Kumbla completed three additional years of rigorous subspecialty training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She trained under several prominent plastic and reconstructive surgeons performing complex craniofacial, hand, microsurgery, and aesthetic surgery, learning the comprehensive spectrum of plastic and reconstructive surgery. During this time, she performed extensive research, publishing over ten articles and chapters in prominent plastic and reconstructive surgery journals and textbooks.
Dr. Kumbla then elected to complete an additional year of cosmetic fellowship training at the largest aesthetic plastic surgery private practice in Texas, the Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery. During this year she focused exclusively on learning the latest non-surgical and surgical aesthetic techniques under the mentorship of some of the leading aesthetic plastic surgeons in the country. During this time, she continued to contribute to her field by pursuing research and publishing in the highly esteemed Aesthetic Surgery Journal and Clinics in Plastic Surgery. Following this, Dr. Kumbla became board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Kumbla decided to return to the southeast region to practice and serve the community where she was raised. In addition to providing exceptional care to her patients and performing the latest surgical techniques, she has continued to advance her field by co-authoring breast reconstruction chapters in prestigious surgical textbooks such as Fischer’s Master of Surgery and Bland and Copeland’s The Breast.
