Nutrition For Exercising After Surgery

Optimizing Your Nutrition To Fuel Your Workouts After Bariatric Surgery

In this month’s Support Group, Bariatric Sports Dietitian Kim Tirapelle will discuss the nutritional impacts of bariatric surgery for active individuals, the difference between bariatric guidelines and sports nutrition guidelines and how to merge these areas.
She will also be covering what to eat before, during, and after workouts, vitamins and mineral supplements of interest for exercise, and muscle gaining strategies for active bariatric individuals.
Kim is a Registered Dietitian who specializes in Bariatric Sports Nutrition. She has been working with bariatric clients and athletes for the last 16 years. Kim has worked in inpatient and outpatient clinic settings, a bariatric surgical center, and also served as a collegiate sports dietitian for a Division I University.
Kim took her passions of sports nutrition and bariatric nutrition and combined those areas to fill a void for post-bariatric clients who have fitness goals but do not know how to adjust their nutrition to match their needs. In 2022, Kim opened her private practice, Active Bariatric Nutrition where she works virtually 1:1 with her clients to optimize their nutrition to meet their exercise goals. You can also listen to Kim weekly on her podcast, the Active Bariatric Nutrition Podcast.
