let's see if this story sounds familiar:
Right after surgery, you were skipping down the yellow brick road of post-operative recovery. The scale consistently was going down (hum dee dum dee dooo, you sang), and then one day the scale just… STOPPED MOVING.
But not just for one day. For one week. And then another week…and then another.
In a panic, you immediately began distrusting yourself and started thinking:
- What am I doing wrong?
- Why haven’t I lost as much weight as “so-and-so”?
- Am I going to gain all of my weight back?
- What in the world is going on?!
We know that staying on track is important to you

She is additionally Board Certified as a Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management.
Her passion lies in serving weight loss surgery patients throughout their entire operative journey. She carries a special interest in serving those struggling with post-operative weight regain and believes in a whole foods nutritional approach for overall health and wellness.
When Kate has extra time on her hands, she enjoys pouring it inside Banana as the head Bariatric Health Coach, being present with her daughter and husband, and traveling the world with her family to experience new cultures and cuisines.
Kyle Rose, RD, LD is the founder of Bariatric Dietitian Services. He graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Institutional Administration. Kyle also completed his Dietetic Internship at Texas Woman’s University.
Together with his team, BDS provides direct Bariatric Dietetic support to members inside Banana.
Kyle’s passion for nutrition stemmed from a medical diagnosis (discovered during his time in the Navy) that was only manageable with nutritional intervention. It was this life-changing condition that opened his eyes to the role that nutrition plays in health and disease and inspired him to learn how to use nutrition to improve the health and well being of others.
Kyle believes in treating patients like family and will do anything and everything in his power to ensure they receive the care they deserve. To this end, Kyle takes full responsibility for patient care and encourages patients to always contact him directly with any questions or concerns they may have.

“Other online bariatric sites felt too big and not near as personal. Once I did the trial with Banana, the personalized welcome and sense of family and support really won me over. Banana Teams and online support groups are an added bonus. This group really does feel like family.”
Gastric Bypass April 2009
“I don’t have a lot of people I talk to about my surgery. This group allows me to speak openly without fear of being judged. Everyone is at all different stages of their journey, but there is always someone who can help. I can’t tell you how nice it is to know I’m not alone. The people in this group are so supportive and have excellent ideas. It was a no-brainer that I wanted to be a part of this.”
“It is nice to have a place that is all about positive and uplifting attitude during this journey. I actually left all the other FB groups I was in because of all the negative and bashing that was going on. We need positive communication, education, mindfulness and fun!!”
You ask, we answer
We often get asked these common questions about Banana Bariatrics. Have a question not answered here? Simply email us at: [email protected]
Yes, Banana Bariatrics is our exclusive (paid) membership support group that is separate from our free Facebook Group: Bariatric Weight Loss Support Group. But you’ll often see sneak-peeks inside Banana and engagement from active Banana members within our FB Group, so there is some overlap there!
We offer two membership options: Quarterly and Annually. Our Quarterly membership comes with a 2 week trial for only $1!
The reason our membership is on a Quarterly basis is to ensure you have adequate time to connect and establish deep friendships with your bariatric buddies inside Banana. We have fun events like Banana Teams that really dials up the engagement and interaction level, but works best when participation spans over a few months during each 3 month “Season.”
You can find our most updated pricing information on our sales page here. (pricing is subject to increase)
If you have any extraordinary financial circumstances, please reach out to us at [email protected] to see how we can help.
Banana member Carmelita adds:
“Being a part of Banana is an investment in yourself! The connectivity to great people and family is amazing!”
If you enjoy being a part of Banana, we always encourage upgrading to our Annual membership. This is our best value subscription level and will save you 2 months of subscription costs each year!
Banana member Dianna had initial concerns about how well she’d fit into the group with it being online. She now says:
“BANANA is a HUGE part of my life! I wouldn’t trade it for anything! I’m drawing closer to others each time we have a meeting. It’s AMAZING!”
Banana member Jill had similar worries prior to starting, and now adds:
“I feel like I have a home of help and understanding. The group of people are here to help and encourage us with no judgment.”
We know it can be intimidating joining a group of people, but not to fear- there are lots of introverts inside! And…*they come out of their shells* (GASP!)
If others can feel comfortable peeking their head out and participating inside Banana, we have no doubt you’ll find the courage to do so too.
And if you ever have anything personal or private to share, you can always reach us at [email protected] We’re only a click away.
It is not uncommon to waffle back and forth between; “Do I have the time for this?” with “…But I know I need something going forward and I could really use the extra support.”
At Banana, ANY amount of time you spend with us is time well spent toward your health and wellness goals.
That’s why Banana focuses on 3 different ways to help you on your health journey: SUPPORT, CONNECTION, and EDUCATION.
