Our favorite quotes from Caitlin’s interview:
The turning point was when I was in Nurse Practitioner school at the time. I had an appointment with an Endocrinologist in Columbus for thyroid nodules. I thought we were going to talk about a thyroid ultrasound. For lack of better words, he fat shamed me and told me I needed to have bariatric surgery to get my health in better control. [I thought to myself,] if I’m a provider encouraging other people to live a healthier life, I have to practice what I preach.
It’s having a healthy relationship with food and balance. We’re all human. I didn’t get to the weight I was without liking food. I know now that there’s certain periods of time I’m very cognizant of what I’m eating. There are other periods of time when I don’t track and log everything and it’s okay. It balances itself out.
